Some children there shouting and playing

Hide and seek near the Plaza Hotel

She sits there and somebody´s saying

“Don´t look like you´re doin´ too well”

She knows it´s her sister Conchita

Askin´ “Why are you here all alone?”

“Must be ´cos my name is Rosita

And Nuevo Laredo´s my home”

Weeks passed by since she came ´cross that border

They said you get paid there so well

But it wasn´t the way that they´d told her

Twelve hours of work in that hotel

She saved all her pay checks for Dolores,

Her cousin, she´s gonna marry Ramon

They´re goin´ to live near Nogales

And each buck helps to buy their new home

And her room mate did ask her

“Why do you look so tired?”

        ´Cos it´s a torture to work here

And I´m afraid to get fired”

The children still laughing and running

It´s time now to go back to work

She thinks by herself “Ain´t it funny

How things turn out for a Mexican girl?

I´d go back ´cross the border with Conchita,

Back to Mama, she called me on the phone

What she said was “please come home Rosita

´Cos Nuevo Laredo´s your home

´Cos Nuevo Laredo´s your home

´Cos Nuevo Laredo´s your home”
