She thumbed me down that very day

When I pulled out of Bastian Bay at daybreak

We kept on talking all the way

From Baton Rouge to Chickasha in the rain

Big painted smile on my face

Just tried to hide my painful days

We made it ninety miles an hour and

I pretended I was over you!

When daylight peeped in through the blinds

I went for coffee, heard a sigh

Gosh, she´s still there

I´m not the man who lets her down

So she climbed in and soon I found her asleep

Big painted smile on my face

Just tried to hide my painful days

We´re doin´ ninety miles an hour and

I pretended I was over you!

        Diesel whining, radio plays

        Songs of yesterdays

        Songs remembering who we were

Back then – when we were walking on air

I woke up somewhere near Great Bend

I had to make it to Cheyenne by nightfall

“Now it´s a three day´s ride my friend

Well, I´ve to tell you who I am” ….. she smiled

Near Pocatello, Idaho

She said “Don´t matter where you go, I´ll be with you!

I saw my man and my best friend -

I swear they didn´t just hold hands- so I quit”

Big painted smile on her face

She tried to hide her painful days

We´re doin´ ninety miles an hour and

She pretended she was over him!

        Diesel whining, radio plays

        Songs of yesterdays

Songs remembering who we were back then

Diesel whining, radio plays…when we were walking on air
